My role model is my mother. My definition of a role model is someone who contributes positive things to the community and to themselves. I also believe that a role model is someone who accomplishes a lot of things throughout their life. So my mother is my role model. My mother is my role model because she has gone through a lot of struggles throughout her life time. However she manages to never give up and still make the best out of it. She was independent at the age of 13. She learned how to cook and clean at the age of 8. Her father was never present, living her mother to care for her and 3 other boys on her own. My mom was very understanding towards why her mother couldn’t afford the things she wanted, so she decided to go out and find a job to buy the things she wanted. After a few years, her mother got sick. She was diabetic as well as being blind from one eye. So my mother took it into her responsibility to take her of her youngest brother and take care of her mother. With the little bit of money she had, she still found a way to put on the table for the family. She than had me, and she raised me on her own. Like I said before, with the little bit of money that she had she still made sure that I had everything that I needed. I never missed a thing. She gave me the life that she wanted to live. However, I am getting a little sentimental here so I would like to say that I am accomplishing a lot of things that she wants me to. I am doing it all for her. I also want to be the best mother that she was to me. I will make sure I never give up when times get rough. I want to be just like her! I am also going to make sure I give her everything she dreamed about having once I get into my career and make a lot of money.

Strengths

My two greatest strengths
1. One of my greatest strengths is that I have the ability to motivate myself to reach my goal. I wouldn’t need anyone to push me forward to reach my goal. Every time I am feeling down and I feel like I want to quit, I just tell myself “you can do it, it will all pay off later”. There has been many times where I wanted to drop out of high school, but I manage to still pull through and make it and graduate. Another thing that I was able to accomplish was getting through my first year of college with good grades. I am the type of person who hates school and I am very lazy. However, I still manage to get all A’s and B’s in my classes in freshman year. I was able to make my mom happy, which was a great accomplishment.
2. One of my other greatest strength is that I able to help others with their problems. I have the ability to encourage others to do better even if I’m going through my own problems. I also have the ability to encourage him or her to do better in life and show them right from wrong. Sometimes people just need the helping hand because they do not have someone to help them guide them in the right path.
My two eras for improvement
Short-term plan
Make sure I don’t get lazy and do not think about myself but think about my family and friends.
Long-term plan
Write down my goals to remind me to reach it every day that I wake up. Make sure I don’t get lazy or give up on reaching my goal.

Insight about my performance

Knowing how long I’ve come and where I am at today I feel satisfy and happy. I am happy to know that I am one step closer to my dream and knowing that I will make my mom happy and proof to others and myself that I was able to accomplish what I thought was not able to accomplish.

Everyone in life goes through problems. Some deals with it differently than others. With this being said, people sometimes turn to drugs to help them cope with their issues others look for people to help them with their issues. We are put to this world to go through ups and downs, nothing in life is handed to you nor is it perfect. In order to learn about the real world, you need to learn it the hard way. However, no matter how we deal with our issues, we still manage to make a change some way somehow, to live a better life and not make the same mistake again.
I have gone through a lot of difficulties in life, whether it is at home, school, with friends, or with my mate. Although it was hard to deal with, I still manage to deal with it and get through it with the help of friends and myself. One must be strong in order to gain themselves back up when encountering with these difficulties, but I manage to do it. As time went on, I realize that those weren't big issues. I am now dealing with the death of my grandmother, my mother’s mother. She passed away on September, 30, 2013, a day after my birthday. I never had a loved one passed away before in my life, especially so close to me. Her whole life she has been going through a lot of difficulties. She was dealing with severe diabetes for 14 years of her life. With all her complications, I have never seen some one so strong in my life. Although I have encounter with this problem, I believe that there is just one strength that will help me address this problem, such as, having the ability to regain myself back up and tell myself she is in a better place and being all depress will not help the problem, it just will make it worse for myself. The only person that I can use as a sounding board to help me through my problems, will be my boyfriend and my family. They are the only once that I can trust and confide in to help me through my problems, I know they will never let me down. As I mentioned before, Since I have encounter with this issue, I am managing on dealing with it on my own. There is not much I can say, but to say that in life you just have to be strong and tell yourself, after every storm there is a sun shine.

Hi my name is Pricilla Felix, I am 20 years old, born on September 29, 1993. I was also born and raised in New York City, in Manhattan. I currently live with my mom, step dad, and uncle. My mom is a high school graduate; her mom did not have the money to pay for her to go to college. My uncle decided to drop out of high school and get his GED. And my step dad is an immigrant who I believe did not go to school. However, I am the first of the family to go to college. I am currently a second semester in of my sophomore year. So far, I like SUNY Canton except the weather. However, as I keep growing and moving on to reach my career, I have learned many things and strategies to become a good student. At the beginning I would not listen, and that’s why I failed to get good grades before. I have learned that it is all about hard work and dedication that is the only way you are going to get where you want to be and be successful. We all want to make a lot of money doing what we love, but the only way to achieve that state is by getting a degree. My personal way of learning is by exploring different things, being able to view things in different angles. I am the type of person who is open to learn new things. If I observe my surroundings, I can learn different things from different people. I will not settle myself to just learn about one thing. I like looking at things from different views.  I also like to learn and or study alone in a quiet place. I do not like being around others that may distract me from doing my school work. I am the type of person who gets distracted easily. Other than that, I am a very good learner and I am getting good grades and soon I am going to achieve my goals. Furthermore, one thing I would like to learn is how the word was created. That is one thing that really interest my mind and it is the only thing that I am interested to know. If I learned this, it will give me a reason to believe why I am on this earth. And it will also let me know how everything around me is where it is. This is a very hard and complicated topic and it will take a long time to explain, but I would love to learn about it

Pricilla Felix

The way that i would describe the aspects of the theory of performance to another student is by explaining to them that it is all about your choices. You as a person make your own decision. No one knows you better than you knowing yourself. Just ask yourself, how and why do you think you got where you are right now. According to the theory of performance it is mainly about six different aspects, which are, identity, skills, knowledge, context, personal factors, and fixed factors. With this being said, you basically grew up learning and fixing the negatives. however, you also have full control of the choices, so make sure you make the right decision so it can lead you to the correct and successful path. In addition, there are elements that can also lead you to a successful path which are, identity, learning, skills, knowledge, context, personal factors, and fix factors. However, the elements and aspects are very similar to each other but they all lead to great direction. When i was in high school, I was able to learn right from wrong because of my peers and families. Throughout my life, I was able to identify who I was and was able to build good skills to get good grades and graduate high school. I was also able to fix my negative so I can be able to be a successful person. However, although I was the type of student that I was in high school, in my opinion I believe that some key characteristics of a high-quality learner especially for an honor student, is be dedicated and have determination. To become an honor student you must really want it and do all you can to achieve those standers. Always dedicate yourself to your school work. He or she should also have good learning skills as well as good knowledge.
